My friend and I use Marco Polo to keep in touch. We’re long-distance, and for many years, we were both single moms. Hence, we were (and yo, still are) suuuuuper busy. Early on, we learned that our best method of communication was sending a MP while driving. Since we’re both verbal processors, this works great. As we navigated many of life’s situations, we’d often come on to process what we were going through.

We eventually noticed that, when it came to dating and relationships, we mostly only processed the challenging experiences. This led to an imbalance of what our friend perceived about the person we were seeing. Being self-aware and wanting always to be fair, we developed a disclaimer that we didn’t really have to come on to process the great dates, the ease, or the fun we had with that person.

In the same sense, I used to joke that if someone ever found some of my old journals, they might get the impression that I was frustrated a lot. Like, all the time. But I wasn’t; it’s just that I turn to the pages to work through unpleasant emotions. Sure, I have plenty of journal entries where I’m pouring gratitude onto the page or recounting an amazing experience, but let’s be real — when things are going great, I’m usually out living, happy, and not preoccupied with my thoughts.

It’s when a difficult time arises that I feel the need to process. That’s why for January’s Journaling Workshop, the theme will be: what to do with this unpleasant feeling.

We’re going to explore the specifics of using journaling to effectively work through hard things. I’ll be sharing a formula I created a couple of years ago to help you do it. If you attended December’s Solstice Workshop, we’ll be reviewing the intentions we set, both for accountability and for fun!

This workshop is meant for everyone. All are welcome.

✨ Whether you consider yourself a writer or not.
✨ Whether you like journaling or not.
✨ You, my friend, are invited to a supportive workshop of community and catharsis.
